Trumpeteers and Investigations

On June 14, 2015 New York billionaire and reality TV show attraction Donald J. Trump announced that he was tossing his hat into the ring as a Republican candidate for the Presidency of the United States. Establishment Republicans and the media largely considered his run a gag and believed he had little chance of election. Against a field of seasoned, career politicians such as Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, John Kasich and Ted Cruz, Trump conducted an highly controversial and often vitriolic campaign which ultimately garnered the Republican nomination. He managed, against the odds, to pull it off and he defeated Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the general election, becoming the 45th President of the United States.

Yet, during the course of his campaign a wide range of irregularities were covered by the media and by a wide range of people who had, over the years, been involved with Trump and whose opinions of the candidate were less than glowing. From associations with known members of organized crime to his multiple bankruptcies, the criticisms were constant. Particular emphasis fell upon queries into his finances. In addition to the bankruptcies, disgruntled former associates and US business dealings, many asked questions about his dealings with foreign banks and interests. His financing by Die Deutsche Bank and that institution’s nefarious dealings with affiliates of the Russian Federation raised many eyebrows.

In the wake of his election, the questions surrounding his Russian ties did not abate. In fact, his election accelerated queries into his involvements and of those working in the ranks of his campaign staff.

Investigations Proliferate and Chaos Accelerates

There are currently a wide range of investigations into  these matters, including those being conducted by the Senate and House Intelligence Committees, Department of the Treasury, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Department of Justice and by Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team of highly-seasoned investigators and prosecutors. In addition, at least two Grand Juries have been convened. Lastly, there are a number of State-level investigations underway of both Trump and his family and those closely tied to them. In fact, the number of investigations currently being conducted is unprecedented for a President who has not yet finished his first year in office.

This page will pull together information and commentary on individuals involved in the Trump campaign. It will also offer resources pertaining to the multiple investigations in play.
